new york, etc.

new york was incredible. by far the coolest band trip i've ever been on. (sorry about ending a sentence with a preposition, for all you grammar freaks out there, tessa.)
some highlights:

  • the parade: duh. the weather was perfect - mid sixties all morning. at the end, some random lady came up and asked if she could take a picture with me - "and wear my hat" i said yes. it was hilarious.
  • marilyn manson: he was staying in the same hotel as us. i rode the elevator down with him and his posse, including some chick, his bodyguard, and i guess his p.a. it was terrifying. there was a skull in the front of his bus.
  • h&m: this totally awesome store that's in a lot of major cities across the us, but not in the atl.
  • times square: self-explanatory
  • st. patrick's cathedral: the most beautiful place i have ever set foot in.
  • thanksgiving dinner: would have been better if my parents had been there, but it was still really really fun. and all the curly girlies straightened their hair! we looked super hott. ;-)
  • the lion king: the most amazing thing i've ever seen. the costumes, the sets, the singing, everything was awesome.
  • being with all my friends: i love them all. where would i be without them?

so, about 30 days till we go to the rose bowl in pasadena. i don't know if i'm really excited about it. i'm feeling kinda burned out, as far as band goes. i just want it to be over. and seriously: 5 and a half miles? that's nuts!

joe alessi's here! for those of you who don't know, he is the principal trombone in the new york philharmonic, and generally considered the best trombonist in the country, if not the world. and he's playing a solo with ayws! he's sooo incredible. our first rehearsal with him was monday and the first thing he played (and everything after it) was nothing short of perfect. so cool.

7 days till school's out, not including finals (which are short and easy, so i don't count them). i can't wait till winter break. nothing to do for a whole week - then we go to california. woohoo!

Y
